About CVA Rwanda

Organization Background

 

The Citizen Voice and Actions is a youth led Organization that was founded by Nine Young People in 2016.guided by a vision of a society where citizen are fully engaged in achieving human sustainable development. The Founding members established CVA toempower citizens to become active members of inclusive society in Rwanda and beyond.
Achievement Development
School of Dialogue Program, Organized by CVA and Funded by National Endowment for Democracy (NED), is a program designed with a purpose to empower Youth to become more active in participatory governance. Strengthen their links with decision makers and therefore strengthen local government accountability. The program Targets 8000 young people of Muhura,Kiramuruzi Sectors of Gatsibo District and Rweru and Gashora Sectors of Bugesera District.
Through the Students Led Good Governance Clubs (GGC)the Organization empower young people as positive change makers in their communities. Through student led good governance clubs,CVA affiliated clubs established in 30 High Learning Institution and Universities. The youth gain superfun experiencesthat allow them to develop their leadership skills and learn about the problems in their society and what Youth can do to solve it.It connect youth with lots of great role models.
Inclusive Democratic Governance and Human Rights.
From 2016, 120 young people were trained by CVA in leadership and advocacy Skills .5800 young people were involved in public talks on Good Governance and Gender .90 youth representatives were involved in Roundtable discussions on Youth Participation in Decision Making Process.
In Collaboration with Plan International Rwanda, NED and Rwanda Governance Board, CVA held the first Policy Youth Dialogue on Youth Engagement Involving over 85 Young people, practitioners and Policy Makers.
Sexual and Gender based Violence
In 2018-2019 the Organization has:

    • Trained 60 young people in Gender Transformative Approach(GTA)
    • Organized a Youth Dialogue on Prevention of teenage pregnancy
    • Enable over 80 participants to engage with decision makers on issue relating to Violence against girls

CVA Contextual Analysis

CVA is grounded on the principle of seeking change through non-violence and ensuring peace remains the aspiration of citizen’s actions and ensures their actions are based on sound and tangible activities as the Global affairs  connotation illustrate that Young people must be the  fundamentals of sustainable development to drive the future needed.
